Class Overview:
This one-day class provides your entry-level personnel, sales support staff, and employees who have limited industry knowledge with a basic understanding of building material operations, product usage in residential construction, and customer service basics.
Topics Covered:
- Building material terminology
- Abbreviations, formulas, measurements
- Margins, board footage, price conversions
- Product usage on the job site - boards, plywood, floor, walls, trusses, roofing, soffit/siding, moldings, interior finish stair parts, doors, windows, insulation, and builder’s hardware.
- Customer relations & practical selling skills
- Knowledge of how profits are made (and lost)
Who Should Attend: Entry Level Sales counter or sales support staff; Yard personnel to help understand industry products, language and customer service
About the Instructor:
Casey Voorhees is the Executive Director for the Western Building Materials Association and has taught this program across the country for many LBM associations. With over 30 years’ experience leading the program, Casey understands the skills needed to provide your customers with an accurate take-off and good customer service.
