Scam Alert: Suspicious Phone Orders Reported |
Multiple lumberyards in our region have reported a recent scam involving phone orders for large quantities of shingles. In these cases, unfamiliar callers with out-of-state area codes requested urgent will-call orders but delayed or avoided providing payment. It was later confirmed the request was fraudulent. |
Red flags to watch for: - Large or urgent orders from unfamiliar callers
- Requests to prepare orders before payment
- Area codes that don’t match the customer or job location
- Delays when payment details are requested

Scam attempts are becoming more common. Staying alert and verifying orders before release helps protect your yard from loss and disruption.
