Special Alert: Court Strikes Down DOL's Overtime Rule

On November 15, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued its ruling invalidating the entirety of the Department of Labor’s (DOL) overtime final rule. In his ruling, Judge Jordan stated that while DOL has the authority to define and delimit the terms of the overtime exemption, “that authority ‘is not unbounded.’”

 

Minnesota Minimum-Wage Rate Adjusted for Inflation as of January 1, 2025 

Minnesota’s minimum-wage rate will be adjusted for inflation on January 1, 2025, to $11.13 an hour for all employers in the state.

We had to close our office for a few days due to the recent storms. Are employees entitled to be paid for the days we were closed? Does it matter if the employees are exempt or nonexempt? All our employees are paid a salary, but some are exempt and some are nonexempt.
